Top 9 Favorite Mangas
Happy Anime Day! (April 15)
In honor of this and to complete my lists of favorite books, here are my favorite mangas I have read so far. I started seriously reading manga back in 2023. I’ve picked up quite a few series since then and plan to pick up many more. I have marked the the mangas that have anime adaptations so you can enjoy them after you’re done reading. All are currently available on Crunchyroll.
1. Wind Breaker by Satoru Nii (shonen)
I picked up the manga after season 1 of the anime because I was obsessed with the story and characters. Then, I was impressed with not only the page-to-screen adaptation, but how well they draw the fight scenes that had got me hooked on the anime. I’ve gotten the new volume in English every month when they’ve come out and have almost caught up. Which means I’ll probably have to start seeking out translations online.

2. Hirano and Kagiura by Shou Harusono (BL)
If you’re into BL, you’ve heard of Sasaki and Miyano, one of the first anime I watched on my own, and where I fell in love with this side couple. I was so excited to learn they had their own story. They have such a sweet and unique dynamic that I can’t wait to see the conclusion. I am currently waiting for volume 5 to arrive in the mail.

3. The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter by Kazuki Irodori (isekai, BL)
Ieskai is a very popular genre in anime and manga, but this is the only BL one I know. While I had some issues with the anime adaptation, it is still an enjoyable watch. The manga just goes more in-depth with the world and characters. It has a cool magic system and, of course, an adorable couple comprising of a protective possessive younger top and an older bottom who is over it.
Status: ongoing
4. How My Daddies Became Mates by Mikkamita (Omegaverse)
The very first omegaverse manga I read and it is still one of my favorites. I’m a sucker for an Omega who can put his Alpha in his place and these two have one of the most wholesome relationships. It is told as flashbacks of them explaining their love story to their daughter. The perfect two-shot that would make the perfect anime.
Status: complete, 2 volumes
5. How to Deal When Your Intimating Neighbor is Actually an Omega by Nikita Inui (Omegaverse)
My favorite omegaverse that I thought was a single volume, but turns out is going to be three! Warning, volume 2 is a cliffhanger, but then we can suffer together. Badass Omega, simping Alpha, and a unique take on the omegaverse world.

6. Love on the Horizon by Machi Yamashita (BL)
Another manga that I think would make the perfect anime and probably my favorite manga I have read. If you love wholesome slice-of-life with no drama, beautiful art, and a pinch of spice, definitely check these volumes out.
Status: complete, 2 volumes
7. 10 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 40 by Mamita (BL)
Speaking of cute slice-of-life, but add office romance and an age gap romance. I am dying waiting for volume 2 to come out in English (another manga I thought was a one-shot). While this sadly doesn’t have an anime adaptation, I believe it does have a live action movie if that is your thing
Status: complete, 2 volumes
8. Roses and Champagne by Zig (mafia)
This is technically a webtoon turned physical graphic novel, but I am still adding it here. I had only had a vague concept of the story. It turned out to be a more complex plot than I thought. I am living for the main characters’ dynamic and their slow burn is burning. Very hyped to continue the series.
Status: complete (when read online)
9. Moriarty the Patriot by Ryōsuke Takeuchi (historical mystery)
While this is my all-time favorite anime, I actually haven’t read the manga beyond the first two volumes. I know it will be a favorite as it goes beyond the end of the anime which I am so excited to read. I have talked a lot about how much I love Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty the Patriot anime is the best screen adaptation of it.
